The State of Georgia has approximately 12,837 children in the foster care system as of February 2020.  On average, foster children could move seven times before the age of 18.

Due to the disruptive process of being removed from their home, foster children oftentimes do not have the essentials they need when they arrive for placement.  Many arrive with just the clothing on their backs. Most foster families have just a short time between getting a phone call and the child being brought to their home.  It’s up to the foster families to frantically acquire basic essentials such as clothing and personal care items for the child.

We as a church are seeking to serve our local foster community by helping meet basic needs. We understand that due to the disruptive process of being removed from their home, foster children oftentimes do not have the essentials they need when they arrive for placement. Many times it’s up to the foster families to frantically acquire basic essentials such as clothing and personal care items for the child.

Therefore The Nett Church Foster Closet at our Bethesda Campus, 444 Bethesda Church Rd. in Lawrenceville, supplies foster families with clothing for infants, children, and teens placed in their care. We will be hosting an Open Closet event for foster families once a month to provide foster parents with gently used clothing for any children under their care.

You can register for the next Open Closet in the link below. If you have any questions you can email us at fostercloset@thenettchurch.com.

Donate to The Foster Closet

Thank you so much for thinking of the Nett Foster Closet as your ministry to donate to. We currently have so many donations of clothing that we have to host another sorting day for our volunteers. Once we sort the last bag and take inventory of the size bins we will update the community on the needs. Stay tuned! We will share updates regularly on our Facebook page.
